Aircraft history:
The Canadair CL-215 is an amphibious aircraft designed specifically for firefighting, with the ability to operate in densely forested regions; it can also be used on semi-prepared slopes as well as on water. Over the years the original fire-fighting version has also been transformed into cargo and passenger transport in areas rich in water mirrors. Driven by two powerful 18-cylinder radial engines, the aircraft is capable of loading 5,443 liters of water using two retractable probes in just 12 seconds. Starting from the ground, it can be filled with retardant. The opening of two doors allows the release of the load on the target. The first flight was completed on 23 October 1967, while the last deliveries were completed in 1990.
